Colorado’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives will be part of the September 19-21 Pedal the Plains bike tour. The electric co-ops are helping co-sponsor the tour and are sponsoring their own Powering the Plains bike team, which will ride across the northeastern plains of Colorado, sharing the co-op story.
Pedal the Plains is an annual three-day ride across Colorado’s high plains. A celebration of Colorado cycling culture, this landmark event commemorates the heart of western agriculture, and shares the beauty and amazing resources of the eastern part of our great state.
In 2014, the team will be riding from Wiggins to Fort Morgan to Sterling and back to Wiggins. There will be informational booths sharing electric co-op news and stats at various points on the tour. It will be a great opportunity to learn about co-ops and how to keep electricity affordable.
The Powering the Plains team of riders will be raising money for Energy Outreach Colorado, which provides financial assistance to Colorado’s neediest families and seniors for their home energy needs. Touchstone Energy Cooperatives have always been an integral part of the communities they serve and Pedal the Plains is another opportunity to raise money for our members who may need help paying for the heat they need.
To donate to Energy Outreach Colorado via Colorado’s Touchstone Energy cooperatives, make your check out to CEEI/EOC and send it to CREA/Pedal the Plains with this Donation Form.
Thanks and see you on the plains!
